'About twelve kilometers from the county seat, the parish of S. Matias is located on the right bank of the Odearce stream, a tributary of the Guadiana River. Located in the extreme north of the municipality of Beja, it is bounded by the parishes of S. Brissos, Santa Maria da Feira and Nossa Senhora das Neves and, to the north, by the municipality of Cuba.
The village also celebrates, annually, the Nª Sª do Rosário on the last weekend of July. At the ecclesiastical level S. Matias was a curate of the presentation of the archbishopric of Évora. They lived in S. Matias, in the seventeenth century, the morgados of Apariça, on the hill that has the same name. There was a temple there, for the satisfaction of the personal needs of the family, which can still be contemplated from the outside.

Fonte da Aldeia - Located in the square inside the village that the fountain constituted a sober element, offering piped water with the contribution of a pump.
Mother Church of St. Matthias - The little that the history of the Mother Church reveals to us ends up being confused with that of the locality, dating back its primitive temple to the fifteenth century, with the same name as its patron, St. Matthias.
Largo Central - The small road village of São Matias contains in its interior this square to serve as a junction, space used by the passage of residents towards the national road.
